According to a recent census, there are over 400,000 children in the United States foster care system. Nearly all of these children are school aged, between 6 and 15 years old, and will typically stay in the foster system for two years. While in the system, most of these children miss out on opportunities that their peers get to experience.
Foster parents do their best to provide these children with everything they need, but with less than 200,000 licensed foster homes, there just isn’t enough time or money to spread around. That’s where organizations like Children’s Sanctuary step in to help.
Children’s Sanctuary is a not-for-profit organization that provides unique opportunities to foster families in Indiana and Ohio. They offer support to the families and children through scholarships and projects to ensure that these kids are presented with chances to grow and succeed. With this kind of support, these foster children are given opportunities to relax and enjoy themselves amidst their highly stressful home lives.
